About

About Arlo KingMy connection with nature began at an early age at my childhood home on Bull Run mountain in Virginia. I spent many years exploring those mountains as a child and always felt at home when I was spending time outdoors.

I moved around to various homes in northern Virginia until I moved to Colorado in the summer of 1998. Once I arrived in Colorado I was instantly amazed by the Rocky Mountains which dwarfed the Appalachian Mountain Range I grew up on.

I began to travel throughout the state on many camping, hiking, and snowboarding trips and found myself in constant awe of the places I was visiting. I bought my first camera in 2002 shortly after I graduated from college with a degree in business administration from the University of Colorado in Denver. That following summer I spent many camping trips throughout the state and began to enjoy, not only the places I was traveling to, but also the artistic expression involved in photographing these wonderful places.

The summer of 2002 planted in me a seed which I have nurtured since then with countless trips to various locations across the states and even abroad. The integration of nature in our lives, in my opinion is not a luxury, but a necessity. Capturing these images from the natural world has been a continual learning experience for me both personally and artistically. I have dedicated a lot of time and effort to connect with nature and deliver a unique perspective of our surroundings. I have driven countless miles, woken up hours before the sunrise, waited out many rainstorms, and hauled my equipment over various terrains.

If I can capture one unique picture form these amazing places I feel as though that trip was a great success. My hope is that these images will deepen people’s appreciation of nature and inspire them to explore it themselves.
